Suzanne Phelan, PhD
Suzanne Phelan, PhD, is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at Brown Medical School and Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at California Polytechnic State University. Dr. Phelan's principal research is in examining ways to improve long-term weight loss maintenance through interventions that have included behavior modification and medications. She is Co-Investigator of the National Weight Control Registry and has conducted several studies examining predictors of long-term weight loss among Registry participants. Dr. Phelan's other interests include evaluating interventions to prevent excessive weight gain during pregnancy and the postpartum year. She has several publications and numerous professional presentations in the area of obesity.
